“The Blanket”

I knit a blanket for my granddaughter, Lydia, before she was born.  She was covered with this blanket when she came home from the hospital and for months when she was an infant.

Then, for her first birthday I made her a “starghan”:

The infant blanket was put away in the bottom of her dresser, and this blanket easily became her favorite.  She takes this to bed with her, won’t get out of bed in the morning without bringing this with her, plays peek-a-boo with it.

I thought the infant blanket was a piece of her history.

Until three days ago when my daughter sent me this picture:

Lydia found her infant blanket in her drawer and now this is again the favorite…

She walks around the house with this wrapped around her and carries it with her everywhere and says, “NaNa”.

Just goes to show that 16 month olds have a better memory system than we adults give them credit for.

I’m praying that all of her memories be good memories…..

Have a wonderful day in Him……

So very adorable 🙂 I’ve always thought that blankets are the best baby gifts…my boys (as old and big as they are) occasionally still use the blankets my mother made for them especially if they are sick.

Oh, this is so sweet, and you are so right!
I still have the blanket my mom made for me, and so does my brother.
The girl is pretty lucky to have a grandma like you! 🙂
