And God Says…..

It’s Thursday morning.  I wake to my alarm.

This doesn’t happen very often.  I’m usually awake well before the alarm goes off.  The alarm is ringing, and I am wondering what this noise is.  Groggily, I slowly awaken…..roll over and turn off this incessant music that is rather annoying me.

I am not ready to start this day….I want to sleep more…..I just want to lay here for a time….

But, my life doesn’t work this way.  So, I stumble my way to the kitchen, start the coffee, feed the cats….all routine.

Coffee and cream in the cup….

Ahhhh…..the rain has stopped for a time.  Amazing!!  Outside with my coffee to greet the day.

Birds are chirping happily.  They sound happier than usual, and I suppose they are.  It’s been several days since they were able to start their mornings with song instead of hiding amongst the tree leaves to stay dry.

I stand… in hand…..listening….listening…..listening…..

Birds chirping…….creek gurgling……breeze softly rustling the leaves….a single raindrop falls from a leave onto my nose….

and God…..God who knows me better than I know myself, says:

“I will carry you through this day….just as I always have….I will be your strength, your energy.  Just rest in me.  My beloved child, just come…..lean back and I will do this for you.”

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28
