I recently finished the book “Lazarus Awakening” by Joanna Weaver. I’ve previously read her other two books about Mary and Martha of Bethany and loved them. I have to say that I enjoyed this book even more than the previous two.
First, Joanna Weaver starts with dealing with our insecurities in the love of God. Like the sisters of Bethany who were disappointed when Jesus did not arrive to heal their brother Lazarus, we sometimes place our own life dismays upon God.
But, Jesus did arrive, and when He did He showed all the glory of God by raising Lazarus from the dead–just as He can raise us from our dead lives of this world and renew our life and joy in Him.
Ms. Weaver refers to removing our “tomb clothes” as we shed the complications and hurts from the this life and place them in the hands of Jesus.
Then, and only then, will we experience the true freedom that Jesus offers us.
Overall, I would recommend this book to others–in fact, I’ve loaned it to a friend already.
I received this book for free from Waterbrook Multnomah for review.
